πŸ“š The Benefits of Journaling βœοΈ

I have kept journals for nearly all my life.  I’ve seen the benefits that they have brought me over the years, so today I wanted to share those benefits with you.

I wanted to tell you all the wonderful reasons why I think you should start journaling!

Journaling allows you to think on paper.

It allows you to get whatever thoughts you have out of your head, or whatever situation you are going through down on paper.  Then you can take a clear bird’s eye view of everything.  You are looking at everything from a new point of view, literally, but it also puts everything into perspective.

A situation that seemed overwhelming at first might seem a bit silly once you have to write it out.  Or you may suddenly see the situation in a new light and come up with new ideas on how to solve whatever it is you are going through.

Journaling allows you to vent.

Our friends and/or partners are not always in the proper state of mind to hear us vent.  We all have issues we are dealing with– including them.  So when you have no one available for venting, take out your journal and write!

It feels soooo good to let everything out on paper.

Journaling forms memories.

When I journal, I like to start by writing down a few things going on around me, especially once per week.  Though I journal almost daily, once per week I describe the weather, the shenanigans my dog gets into πŸ˜‚, and whatever I have going on at the time.

During the hot, hot summer, I looked back at a November entry one day, and realized I had almost forgotten the birds migrating south in a V shape.  It was nice to recall such memory!

A journal is your life.  You can catch big and small memories to look back upon in your older, wiser days.

Journaling is writing (and art) practice.

If you’re an aspiring author or aspiring writer, journaling is truly the perfect writing practice.  You can hone your writing voice, experiment with different ways of writing, and develop your own unique prose.

You can also deviate from the norm and add poetry to your journal.  Or water color, or stickers, or whatever it is that you love to do!  You not only get to express yourself in words, but however else you wish to express yourself πŸ’“

Journaling keeps you in touch with yourself.

By taking the time to journal every single day, you are giving yourself much-needed YOU time.  Journaling is a chance to get in touch with your core values, opinions, beliefs, and more.

Through journaling, you experience you– as a developing, growing, and learning human.  You are truly fascinating, my dear!  And journaling can help you get to know your deepest self.

For these reasons and more, I highly recommend journaling!
