Laundry never seems to end. Neither does the dirty/clean dish cycle. And having a dog, vacuuming and sweeping my hardwood floors is also pretty never-ending.
At first it was tedious, I’ll admit. I went from living in a one-bedroom to a larger home. Which I love, don’t get me wrong, but suddenly the chores expanded. From one bathroom to three. From one swatch of carpet to several rooms. From one dusty surface to several.
I needed to find a way to “Do everything without grumbling or arguing” (Philippians 2:14 NIV).
That’s where podcasts came in! I found a few that I enjoy (my favorites are Joyce Meyer Ministries and The Next Right Thing), and now every time I have to do house work, I put on headphones and go.
Sometimes music works just as well (right now I can’t stop listening to Cher’s Dancing Queen or Sarah Brightman’s Hymn!), but I find that Christian podcasts give me something positive to look forward to.
While my hands are busy with otherwise mind-numbing chores, my mind is learning about Christian living through the headphones.
Give it a try! There are so many ideas, and you don’t need much. Maybe just a radio, an old iPod, some headphones. You can try podcasts, the Bible in audiobook, or just your favorite songs.
Take care and God bless,
