📖 Gratitude: A Bible Verse ðŸ¤”

I was sitting in stillness and was suddenly filled with gratitude. It’s actually something that happens to me quite often.

You see, I come from a difficult background. I had a complicated upbringing and became an alcoholic in my 20’s. Thank goodness all that is behind me now! And “thank goodness” is something I think often. So, I asked myself:

What does the Bible say about gratitude?

(I’m also very grateful for Google and my Kindle eBible, because I can look up specific verses rather quickly! 😄)

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

~ 1 Thessalonians 5:18 ESV

My first reaction was a very human one: give thanks in ALL circumstances? Is that even possible? ALL circumstances? I immediately thought, that sounds kind of hard.

Because what if the circumstances are tough? But as I sat with the verse for a moment, my heart began to change.

If I must give thanks for ALL circumstances… and God works all things for good (Romans 8:28)…

…then that means, no matter what happens, everything will be okay. 🌸

Whether I think a circumstance is good or bad, I should experience gratitude, because God’s will is being done, and God will work things out for good.

💡 Nice! So, even though it’s easy to be grateful at this moment, because my life is going well, I should keep in mind that when adversity knocks on the door, I should receive it with gratitude. Perhaps also with a bit of kindness and calm.

Take care and God bless,

Yari 🦒

Thanks so much for stopping by! 😊
