πŸ’‘ Self Care

πŸ’“A To-Do List for Your HeartπŸ’“

It’s amazing how sometimes we gravitate to the things that aren’t great for us. That happens to me, and it can happen when we’re tired, when we don’t want to think, when it’s been a long day and all we want to do is relax.

But before mindlessly reaching for my phone, I have decided to make a to-do list… for my heart πŸ’“

This is a list of the things that leave you feeling full of joy.

You know, the things that somehow get brushed aside because numbing-out in front of the TV seems so much easier! The things that get put away because we have spent, yet again, too many hours browsing social media, and there’s time for nothing else.

But unlike TV and social media, your to-do list for the heart includes the things that leave you feeling FULL, not EMPTY.

You know the feeling~ the feeling after reading a few chapters of a really great book. The feeling after stepping out of the bath. The feeling after singing that nostalgic song and dancing around like a teenager.

For me, my to-do list of the heart includes guitar-playing, journaling, Bible-reading, and dancing. It includes doing normal poetry and magnetic poetry (which was real popular in the late ’90s).

My list includes practices that bring me joy and fulfillment, that I may not be able to consider when I’m too tired.

All I need to do on those tired days is look at that list and go “Oh, right! This is much better 😊”

Then, instead of reaching for my phone, I do something that uplifts me.

I hope this little blog helps you on your way to kindness & calm! Take care and God bless,

Yari 🎸
