I’ve been re-reading the Psalms recently, and a verse stood out to me today. (This is why it is so important to read your Bible daily ~ you’ll notice new things each time! 😊)
Here is the Psalm that stood out to me:
Your righteousness is
like the mighty mountains,
your justice like
the ocean depths.
You care for
people and animals alike,
Psalm 36:6 NLT
“You care for people and animals alike, O Lord” truly stood out to me. I’ve always loved animals. Ever since I was a little girl, I loved kittens and dogs. I loved birds and squirrels. Actually, I’m still pretty fascinated by the squirrels that visit my backyard 😊 My desire to care for animals has never changed.
And to read that the Lord cares for them also… well, that just melts my heart! That makes me seek Him even more! What a wonderful, merciful God we serve 🤗 💕
Of course, being a new Christian, I didn’t want to jump to conclusions about this verse. I have read over various commentaries online, which vary. Some writers feel this means literally animals, others feel like it’s a metaphor for humans and those who feel like a lower species (due to sin, or guilt, or something similar).
Either way, what a wonder reassurance to read that the Lord cares.
Thanks for reading this blog and God bless!
