😖 My Top 3 Spiritual Struggles ðŸ˜¨

I know that none of us are perfect, and that gives me a sense of comfort. But, it still doesn’t make me blind to the challenges in my life, especially my spiritual life. Today, I wanted to share with you my top 3 spiritual struggles ~ and the Bible verses I’ll keep in mind when these challenges come up 🤗

1. I want expediency

Sometimes I’m in a hurry, but God is not. And I know that God takes his time ~ it wasn’t until my mid-30’s that I started following Christ! It took a while for me to get here, but the timing was just right. So, what does the Bible say about God’s timing?

Wait for the Lord; be strong,
and let your heart take courage;
wait for the Lord!

Psalm 27:14

And let us not grow weary of doing good,
for in due season we will reap,
if we do not give up.

Galatians 6:9

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.

Proverbs 3:5-6

When I want what I want, and I want it now, I will keep these verses in mind 😊 Here are some more Bible verses (Open Bible Info) about God’s timing.

2. I get distracted

I LOVE hobbies. I’ve tried jewelry-making, knitting, sewing, and art journaling. I’ve tried singing, line-dancing, and making my own music. Right now, I’m learning Korean, belly-dancing, and self-teaching myself the guitar. On top of that, I am a home-maker and an author.

Phew! So much stuff! I love it all, but… I must admit, among all the activities, it can be difficult for me to spend focused time with God. For this challenge, I hold the following Bible verses close to my heart:

Set your minds on things that are above,
not on things that are on earth.

Colossians 3:2

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true,
whatever is noble, whatever is right,
whatever is pure, whatever is lovely,
whatever is admirable–
if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–
think about such things.

Philippians 4:8

I’ve cut out most of my time online to give myself time with God. To give him my undivided attention 🥰 And also, to have time for all my hobbies.

3. I want clear, precise answers to all my prayers

Who doesn’t, right? 😏 I know I do. But I’m slowly learning that God doesn’t always answer prayers right away. Or maybe he does, and we just don’t like the answer. Or maybe we missed it. Whatever the case may be, I need some Bible verses to feel better about this.

You ask and do not receive,
because you ask wrongly,
to spend it on your passions.

James 4:3

This one ☝️ tells me I may not be asking for the right thing, or for the right reasons, so I should be aware of that. (I love the book of James! He is so direct and no-nonsense.)

Do not be anxious about anything,
but in everything by prayer and supplication
with thanksgiving let your requests
be made known to God.

Philippians 4:6

This one ☝️ tells me to pray without worry, without that urgency and anxiety to want answers asap.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this:
While we were still sinners,
Christ died for us.

Romans 5:8

  1. Can relate so much to your post. I love to do my hobbies but finding the time to do it all while working at my full time job can be hectic. I find myself praying and asking Him to help me with my time management and allow me to focus on my passions.

    1. Time management can be so tricky! But I know God helps us see what’s important in life so that we can prioritize 🙂 It’s something I pray about often, too. There’s so many fun distractions on top of all our responsibilities, right? 😝

  3. YES ma’am! I struggle with focus and being in a hurry and wanting everything now, skip the process, please! 🙂 And can’t I just do everything! lol. 😀 No, I can’t do everything. I don’t have that kind of time. I often spread myself too thin by wanting to do too much.

  4. Yari, an excellent post! You are very creative ! I struggle with gluttony, an over enjoyment of food. Luckily my metabolism is fast. But my struggle has hurt others. Years ago, I picked up my son from his friend Billy’s 8th Birthday party. My son had a delicious piece of birthday cake with him, and he asked me to put it in the fridge for him so he could eat it later. When he went to look for it later, it was gone, because , in my gluttony, I had eaten it ! He was so upset with me, understandably. We are all works in progress, God is continually transforming us into the image of Jesus. 🤗

      I hope you and your son can look back with humor now, though I can see how it could be upsetting back then!
