🌸 Hello, sister in Christ! 🌸
Last week I spoke about what modesty means to me, in terms of what I choose to wear. But modesty is not only related to how we dress. It can also apply to how we present ourselves in other ways– including how we behave.
The Bible speaks of “dressing” ourselves with behaviors, such as:
Strength and dignity are her clothing,
and she laughs at the time to come.
Proverbs 31:25 ESV
all of you,
with humility toward one another
[Part of] 1 Peter 5:5 ESV
Strength, dignity, humility… They are all wonderful attributes that God wants us to adopt 🤗 Behavior matters and is included with modesty. It doesn’t matter if you’re covered head to toe if you’re going to flirt with a married man. It doesn’t matter if you abstain from physical adornments if you’re going to adorn yourself with a sour attitude.
What I’m learning from reading about modesty in the Bible is that God asks for modesty for the whole package. Inside and out. We are to present ourselves in a way that honors Him 🥰 That means what we wear, but also what we do.
What are your thoughts on this?
Let me know in the comments 🙂
Next week, I’ll talk a bit about modesty online.
