Let’s pick up where we left off…
She sees that her trading is profitable,
and her lamp does not go out at night.
Let’s dive right in with a question.
Is your trading profitable?
I see too many women slave away on social media, on websites like Instagram and Twitter. They work hard making themselves a “brand,” making their very lives a “business,” but without much profit.
The Proverbs 31 woman sees that her trading is profitable. This implies that she has taken the time to think and consider: is what I’m doing moving me and my family forward? Because if it isn’t, I’m sure she would do something differently.
- What am I doing with my limited amount of time?
- Is it bringing profit?
- Is it bringing me closer to God and my family?
Her lamp does not go out at night.
Before you think she works 24/7, wait! I’ve been reading various commentary on this Bible verse, and here is what I have found. Yes, this can imply that she works at night also, but who doesn’t? Who doesn’t clean up after dinner, put the kids to bed, get stuff ready for the next day? We all do.
Metaphorically, this line represents…
…the glorious light of the Gospel,
which always continues in the darkest times …
or her spiritual prosperity, which,
though it may be damped, will never be extinct…**
Beautiful, isn’t it? 🙂 Keep your light burning by reading the Word of God 🕯️ Those are His words ~ let Him speak to you! Keep the light of the Gospel bright in your life, and it will glow, even in dark times.
What do you think of this line?
Honestly, I thought it meant that she paid her light bill on time 🙃 But I think I understand a bit better now 😄
Take care and God bless,
